My Journey From Graduate to Investment Banker

Having always been blown away by those straight suited gentlemen who walked the prestigious halls of stock exchanges and investment banking firms, who usually were supremely capable of bringing the toughest of deals to a close, merging one company with the other, acquiring low performing assets and companies and then actually turning them around on their toes so as to help with the establishment of a new and improved line of assets which was also supremely productive and lucrative. It was my dream to work alongside such empowered and talented professionals. This is why I was always attracted towards the career of Mergers and Acquisitions.

After searching for the perfect way to enter this career, I stumbled across what would be one of the best career decisions I made in my life. I found out about Imaritcus Learning through one of their detailed and informative articles, which was the introduction to the field of mergers and acquisitions and financial modeling in general. This prompted me to go to speak to them at one of their centers. The counsellors were very useful in terms of the fact that they helped thoroughly guide me into the process of this career and I even got to find out a few things that earlier I wouldn’t have possibly known about.

I enrolled into the course of Certification of Financial Modelling. This program is basically designed for various careers in the field of private equity, equity research, financial modelling, business modelling and most importantly mergers and acquisitions. This course was designed in such a way so as to help me become an expert at Excel and creating financial models at the same time letting me focus thoroughly on how the trends of predicting the future in the financial industry work.

The course structure involved learning about modelling and the three financial statements and how to make use of them, understanding the role that is played by corporate finance, discounted cash flow, valuation in project finance, forecasting basically all of things which could have led us students to actually acquire a proper skillset of financial tools which would enable us to provide top class services to our employers in the near future. This course taught me a lot and boosted my confidence due to the many mock interviews and the group discussions that took place throughout the course. Thanks to Imarticus now I am confident enough to achieve my dreams.

My Journey with Imarticus Learning

I have always wanted to make a career in the field of investment banking but the only few ways that I knew to go about it were either through rudimentary training practices, like for example getting a degree in the field of finance or taking up a vocational training course through some business school. But when I came across this novel initiative of Imarticus I found myself being extremely motivated to go and become a part of this initiative as well as an inch a little closer to my dream career option.

Firstly I was supposed to meet with this counselor who cleared all my doubts and actually directed me through the process that is followed entirely in this institute. Thus getting my doubts cleared I even attempted a few of their mock examinations just to check where exactly I stand. This being done I started off my course of Certificate in Investment Banking Operations or CIBOP as it is popularly known in the Imarticus jargon. This is an essentially internationally acclaimed course and the completion of the same provides for a proper career in the field of Capital markets and other related verticals.

The highlight of the course was the fact that it was a course driven by top-level industry experts who have had considerable experience in their respective fields. This very experience helped us get closer and better insights in the field that we were supposed to be preparing for. In a nutshell, all that we learned through this course basically referred to comprehensive coverage of security operations and derivatives, trade life cycles and the various operations that go on in the back office ranging from middle office functions, core office functions, risk management, and the various custody services that go in various countries like USA, Europe and so on.

I got to work with high valued trade products and operations throughout the course which proved a great and beneficial way to help me learn the way the things would work once I get into the field of the industry. This approach was extremely helpful and was a great way to bring both our academics and what the industry demands from us quite close so as to strike a balance. The career guidance team helped us to gain the insightful knowledge which proved a great help in going out there and conquering our fears. Kudos to Imarticus for making us so well equipped.
