Having always been blown away by those straight suited gentlemen who walked the prestigious halls of stock exchanges and investment banking firms, who usually were supremely capable of bringing the toughest of deals to a close, merging one company with the other, acquiring low performing assets and companies and then actually turning them around on their toes so as to help with the establishment of a new and improved line of assets which was also supremely productive and lucrative. It was my dream to work alongside such empowered and talented professionals. This is why I was always attracted towards the career of Mergers and Acquisitions.
After searching for the perfect way to enter this career, I stumbled across what would be one of the best career decisions I made in my life. I found out about Imaritcus Learning through one of their detailed and informative articles, which was the introduction to the field of mergers and acquisitions and financial modeling in general. This prompted me to go to speak to them at one of their centers. The counsellors were very useful in terms of the fact that they helped thoroughly guide me into the process of this career and I even got to find out a few things that earlier I wouldn’t have possibly known about.
I enrolled into the course of Certification of Financial Modelling. This program is basically designed for various careers in the field of private equity, equity research, financial modelling, business modelling and most importantly mergers and acquisitions. This course was designed in such a way so as to help me become an expert at Excel and creating financial models at the same time letting me focus thoroughly on how the trends of predicting the future in the financial industry work.
The course structure involved learning about modelling and the three financial statements and how to make use of them, understanding the role that is played by corporate finance, discounted cash flow, valuation in project finance, forecasting basically all of things which could have led us students to actually acquire a proper skillset of financial tools which would enable us to provide top class services to our employers in the near future. This course taught me a lot and boosted my confidence due to the many mock interviews and the group discussions that took place throughout the course. Thanks to Imarticus now I am confident enough to achieve my dreams.
